Sabal palms are native to the southeastern United States, Cuba, and the Bahamas. These hardy trees are extremely salt-tolerant and can even thrive on shorelines washed by sea water at high tide. In the deep Everglades they rise sporadically above the long red mangrove shorelines. For those familiar with the labyrinth of creeks and bays, they can be used to navigate certain areas of the shallow backcountry.

John McLean's art is inspired by the inimitable Florida Everglades. Each print requires many hours to produce.
