Ronald Langley Bloore (typically referred to as "Ron Bloore") is one of the most distinctive Canadian painters of the 20th century.

An important educator and one of the few minimalist painters in Canada, Bloore is renowned for his highly original and sparse white paintings. 

Bloore, along with was a part of the "Regina Five" - an important exhibition at the National Gallery (Ottawa) featuring this group of Regina-based abstract painters. 

The group would stay affiliated together until 1966 which coincided Bloore's move from the prairies to Toronto.

There is the assumption that Bloore's development of all white canvases was a response to the stark Saskatchewan winters with its blinding snow and intense light. Bloore would correct this point that he was more responding to antiquity.

This work is a paradigm of his oeuvre; dynamic, minimal and monochromatic.

Like most minimal masterpieces, this work demands first-hand inspection.
